Founded in 1964, Natal Portland Cement (NPC) has built a legacy of excellence in the South African cement industry.  

From our inception, the company has been a key player in providing high-quality cement and related products to meet the demands of the construction industry in KwaZulu-Natal and beyond. 

 A major milestone in NPC’s growth occurred in 1984, with the commissioning of the Simuma plant in Port Shepstone, marking the beginning of a long-standing commitment to innovation and operational excellence. Over the years, NPC has expanded its footprint, cementing its position as the largest regional producer of cement in KwaZulu-Natal. 

 In December 2023, NPC entered a new phase of growth when it was acquired by Huaxin Group, a leading international cement manufacturer based in China. This strategic acquisition strengthens NPC’s capabilities and supports its commitment to innovation, sustainability and community development.

Simuma

A key facility responsible for cement production, with ongoing expansion to enhance capacity and sustainability.

Margate

Our aggregate quarry in Margate, strategically positioned for raw material sourcing. 

Newcastle

Serving the northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, this plant supports regional production and distribution.

Cliffdale

Another important quarry site ensuring a steady supply of aggregates for the region’s construction industry.

These facilities, complemented by our comprehensive distribution network, enable NPC to efficiently serve both local and regional markets.
